Story

An unsolved mystery. A looming storm. And a yeti on the loose. An expedition vanished high in the Himalayas while chasing a legendary jewel. All that remains is an abandoned outpost, half-buried in snow and whispered about in fearful tones by the locals. They say the mountain is dangerous. That something ancient protects the jewel. That the Yeti is real. It’s your turn to brave the cold, follow the trail, and uncover what really happened. But beware — in these mountains, the air is thin, time is short, and not everything that walks on two legs is human. Dare to uncover the Legend of the Yeti!

Welcome to the Himalayas, where the only thing bigger than the mountains are the legends about a powerful, mystical creature that is said to call them home. Speculating on mythical legends is fun, but things get a bit more serious after an expedition to uncover the truth disappears without a trace. It’s time to bring out the big guns: renowned internet vlogger sensation, Misty! You know, host of Misty’s Mysteries?

Anyway, after setting up her own base camp in the foothills of the Himalayas, Misty’s live feed has has been lost, leaving a chatroom full of her fans speculating as to what they just witnessed. And what was that noise right as her connection cut out? It sounded like…. a roar.

With the original crew gone, and even Misty now radio silent, it’s time for a backup expedition to make their way to the abandoned outpost in search of answers. Surely, the Legend of the Yeti couldn’t be true… right?

Scenic

At the edge of one of the mountain’s most treacherous peaks, the old outpost stands frozen in time – but is that because of the freshly falling snow or did something much worse disrupt its sanctuary? Jagged icicles line the roof’s edge as colorful Himalayan prayer flags whip in the frostbitten wind. They’ll keep the team safe, right? Right?

Inside the cabin, research materials are left exactly as they were last used by the original expedition. The half-finished state of their research creates an unsettling feeling that perhaps that missing crew left in a hurry. The legendary jewel most have only heard whispers about remains safely sealed in a protective case among the supply crates… for now, anyway. But something is lurking outside – something big – and it doesn’t sound happy that another expedition has arrived.

Beyond the outpost, hidden in an icy cave is an ancient offerings shrine to the legendary Yeti itself. Inscriptions depict locals leaving gifts for the creature, while honoring it with hand-carved stone idols. There’s no sign of the original crew – or Misty – but that definitely doesn’t mean this new team is there alone.

Puzzles

The Escape Game has long been known for their immersive, intuitive puzzle design, and Legend of the Yeti raises that bar to a whole new mountaintop. From the moment explorers step foot on level ground outside the abandoned outpost, every task that follows is organically connected to the storyworld in a way that brings the adventure to life.

Despite the clearly apparent danger that a fabled monster could be lurking just beyond any given snow drift, Legend of the Yeti’s puzzles are clever, whimsical and fun. It’s easy to sometimes lose sight of the omnipresent perils that surround at these dizzying heights in favor of a classic snowball fight that will bring the kid out of even the most seasoned of explorers. (Just don’t forget your gloves – frostbite is no joke!)

And regardless if the legends are true, it can’t hurt to be prepared with an offering or two for the mighty Yeti. After all, fortune favors the bold – and perhaps the best way to survive the creature is to be audacious enough to get on its good side.

Overall

Legend of the Yeti is a new peak of family fun at The Escape Game. From the start of this rescue expedition to its unexpected finale, explorers are immersed into its storyworld through engaging puzzles, atmospheric effects and a scenic attention to detail that brings the Himalayas much closer to home.

The adventure requires smarts and bravery, and is full of surprises at every turn – but none will be too much for any younger explorers in the base camp. The Escape Game really has found the perfect balance, crafting an experience that is just the right thrill level for all ages, yet still wildly different from anything they’ve produced before it.

Legend of the Yeti is the newest challenge in the ever-growing portfolio of one of the industry’s most solid brands. We’re confident this expedition will expand like an avalanche across their countless locations – but until then, it’s a good reason to pack up your sled and slide down-hill to Orlando. Until then, stay curious! (We’re thinking of you, Misty!)
