Find yourselves locked in an ancient Egyptian tomb with puzzles and surprises that can lead to your freedom. But hurry, time is short; you may be locked in forever, or worse!
A recent archeological dig has unearthed the final resting place of one of the great Egyptian pharaohs. His sarcophagus is enchanted with spells of protection; breaking one of these spells would lead to disaster.
Intrepid explorers must face down the mystic guardians and wards found throughout the tomb. The gods themselves are watching over Imhotep’s burial grounds, and it’s up to us to make sure that he’s not disturbed from his eternal slumber.
Carvings of hieroglyphics and images of myriad Egyptian deities are set into the stone walls. The chamber is softly lit from the skylights above, allowing sunlight to help illuminate the furthest reaches of the tomb.
There are hints of the treasures that were buried with Imhotep throughout- sparkling gemstones glisten from hidden crevices, while marble and alabaster statues line the floor. It is evident that nature has tried to reclaim the once-opulent space, as snakes have made themselves at home, and the supports have all begun to crumble.
The Egyptian Tomb holds a a variety of secrets within its walls. The puzzles are evenly split between technology-based and low-tech. The storyworld is enhanced through the presence of different artifacts, like statues and golden wall adornments, which prove themselves useful as game-play progresses.
Adventurers should note that one challenge requires a minimum of three people to complete. Another one plays upon common fears, such as claustrophobia. All will lead to very creative thinking in order to succeed.
None of the riddles have need for logic leaps; everything is intuitive and thought-provoking. The tasks all make sense within the created story line, and the non-linear presentation ensures that the entire tomb gets to be explored.
Escape Room Mystery does a fantastic job of creating a new take on what some would see as a fairly common theme. There are elements in the game that are truly unique, resulting in an experience that is far from ordinary.
It does seem like explorers have actually been transported to Egypt, and are facing eternal punishment from Imhotep as a result of disturbing his crypt. The wrath of the gods is a force not to be reckoned with, lest we get swallowed up by the desert.
